Gosport, like its famous neighbour, Portsmouth Harbour, is benefiting from a renaissance and, standing proudly on the waterfront, is Priddy's Hard, one of Crest Nicholson's flagship developments. Built in 1771, Priddy's Hard was a gunpowder storage facility and the oldest of the four depots that made up Gosport's famous Royal Naval Armament Depot. The 10-hectare site is now a Conservation Area and includes a number of historic and listed buildings. The new development of contemporary one- and two-bedroom apartments has been designed to blend with the military styling of the original buildings that remain on the site. The new apartment blocks are sleek, red-brick buildings with pilasters, corbels and industrial-looking 'chimneys'. SSQ R1 Del Carmen Blue-black roofing slate was used to enhance the styling and, at the same time, preserve the look of the area's unique heritage.
