Quality Control

SSQ takes pride in the quality of its roofing slates.

All SSQ roofing slates are tested to EN 12326 and qualify for the CE marking which allows their use for building and construction work within the UK and Europe.

The CE marking is not an indication of 'quality' and the slate's expected performance can only be assessed from the test results. All SSQ roofing slates are expected to receive a minimum 'A1-S1-T1' classification in the three key performance tests in EN 12326.

All SSQ roofing slates - from both our own and the independent quarries who supply us - are subject to rigorous quality-control checks to ensure they meet the specification we advertise.

We employ a full-time team of three quality-control inspectors to monitor the production, workmanship and specification of any roofing slates produced by an independent quarry and that will carry the SSQ name.

NB: please remember that slate is a natural product. As it may have taken over 450 million years to form, we cannot guarantee an exact specification and some natural variation may be expected.
