A project utilising our Del Carmen Spanish Slate took home the award for Roof Slating at this year’s UK Roofing Awards, hosted by the National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC).

The NFRC is the largest and most influential roofing trade association in the UK, promoting both quality products and contractors, while ensuring that its members are at the forefront of all roofing developments.

Contour Roofing (Essex) was given the task of providing the roof coverings to St Joseph’s College, a Grade II listed building (1866) on the fringes of Mill Hill Village. The roof coverings and the complex roof design needed to blend into the beautiful scenic surroundings overlooking London.

A combination of new build and refurbishment, the project presented a number of challenges as Berkeley Homes required this landmark college to be converted into a residential building containing 49 luxury apartments.

By combining Contour Roofing’s hard work alongside the quality of our Del Carmen natural slate, the duo proved ideal for the varying and intricate roofing areas, both flat and pitched. As a result, Berkeley Homes is able to offer luxury apartments set in seven acres of private land, complete with a stunning new roof.

The project at Chandlers Wharf, Lewes involved the development of 12 riverside houses. Built by Riverdale Developments on the edge of the River Ouse, this highly complex build was logistically demanding, as it required interfacing of numerous roofing disciplines.

Utilising SSQ Domiz natural slate cladding, combined with complementing zinc flashings, a high-quality finish has been achieved and these buildings sit perfectly within the historic town. This beautiful project earned Redwing Roofing a finalist position for Roof Slating at the UK Roofing Awards.
